What Classic Car trailers do we have for hire?

At Coventry Trailer Hire, we have the largest range of trailers for hire. We stock over 30 models of quality trailers and transporters for rental. Our types include a range of Car Transporters trailers ideal for transporting classic cars.

We have 14ft Car Trailers ideal for anything from a classic Austin Mini Cooper or MGB, all the way up to a Ford Sierra, Mercedes 190E or even an original Land Rover Defender 90. We have 16ft Car Trailers ideal for a Jaguar XJ6, BMW 5 Series and Defender 110. For larger classic cars like 4x4s or Bentley and Rolls-Royce models we have triple-axle car trailers.

How does Classic Car trailer rental work?

All classic car trailer hires require a cash holding deposit as well as the specified rental charge. All hirers are required to bring their UK Photo Driving Licence, one proof of current UK address that is no older than 3 months and will also be required to provide their National Insurance Number so we can do driving licence checks. Our friendly staff will aid you hitching up the trailer and take you through the trailer’s features, telling you everything you need to know.

We charge by strict 24 hour periods so make sure to stay punctual. Any late returns will incur charges of full day rates as stated clearly in our equipment hire terms and conditions.

Who can hire a Classic Car trailer in the West Midlands?

We offer Classic Car trailer hire to both domestic and commercial customers. Commercial hirers can purchase rental through their company and we can provide full VAT receipts, but all hire agreements must be taken out as an individual. Hirers must bring their UK Photo Driving Licence, one proof of current UK address that is no older than 3 months and their National Insurance Number. Hirers must be at least 18 years old with no more than 6 penalty points on their licence in the last 3 years and no disqualifications in the last 7 years.

Are there special licence requirements for towing Classic Car trailers?

In 2021, laws changed so that everyone holding a full UK Driving Licence can now tow trailers up to 3500KG on UK roads, subject to their towing vehicles capacities. We stock lightweight unbraked trailers from 300KG to 750KG and braked car trailers from 2600KG to 3500KG. These ratings consist of the weight of the empty trailer combined with the trailer’s load capacity. For example, a 3500KG trailer might weigh 1000KG empty and have a carrying capacity of 2500KG.

How long can I rent a Classic Car trailer for?

Our standard Classic Car trailer hire rates are priced in 24 hour hire periods or 7 days. We do offer longer term hires but these are priced on application. We are strict on our hire terms so we advise customers stay punctual to avoid any late charges. If you pay for 24 hours hire, you have 24 hours to return the equipment in full. If you go over you will be charged for each additional 24 hour period you go into.

Can I take a Classic Car trailer abroad?

We do allow our Classic Car trailers to travel outside of the UK Mainland as long as it has been pre-arranged. Our trailers cannot be taken abroad without prior arrangement. We have to see proof of necessary recovery / breakdown cover for trips into Europe; including Scottish Highlands, Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. Rentals outside of the UK Mainland also require a different holding deposit which can be found here.
